Top 20 qualities of Smart People!!!

Top 20 Qualities of Smart People by Michelle L. Casto

In today's competitive world, it pays to be smart. No matter how smart you are, I am sure there is something you could "get smarter" about. Below are some qualities of smart people. As you read the list, ask yourself: Am I as smart as I could be in this area? How could I get smarter?

1. Make Decisions Intuitively Smart people listen to and follow their intuition. They know how intuitions and insights come to them and are tuned-in internally to make wise decisions.

2. Are Self-Aware Smart people are aware of who they are--- strengths, weaknesses, personality, values, etc. As Confucius once said, "He who knows others is wise, he who knows himself is enlightened," they know that the most important and interesting thing to know about is "self."

3. Use Active Reflection Smart people reflect on and learn from past experiences, finding out what works and what doesn't, and then adjusts their course of action as needed. They think about things before jumping in, and also take the time after-the-fact to actively reflect to fully understand what happened or didn't happen.

4. Think Out-of-Box Smart people can easily entertain new ideas, thoughts, and ways of doing things. They crave progressive and forward thinking information, concepts, and people. They often come up with new and radical ideas on a regular basis.

5. Have An Open-Mind Smart people are open to different perspectives and see potential where most people don't. They would agree with what the quote, "A mind is like a parachute, it only functions when it is open." They are comfortable with paradoxes and can relate to many sides of an issue or opinion.

6. Are Responsive Smart people recognize and respond quickly to opportunities and people. They act and react fast, and take care of what needs to be taken care-of, well ahead of schedule.

7. Are Resourceful Smart people don't have to know it all, but they do know where to go to get whatever information, resources, training, education that they need. They are well-networked and have people to call on for resource referrals.

8. Question Authority Smart people think for themselves. They do not blindly believe things so-called "experts" say, in fact, they ask deep questions to discover their own truth.

9. Upgrade Their Brain Smart people stay smart because they are committed to being a lifelong learner. They continuously learn new things, and stay current with their skills, attitudes, and beliefs.

10. Have a Sense of Humor Smart people do not take themselves or life too seriously. They recognize the importance of finding the fun in the irony and the comedy of everyday life.

11. Take Risks Smart people are willing to try out new things, knowing that if it doesn't work out as intended, failure is often cleverly disguised as a learning opportunity. They "swing out there" often, and it usually pays off.

12. Trust Themselves Smart people believe and trust themselves first and foremost. They don't have to check with others to make decisions, they instinctively know what is right for them and they go for it!

13. Write and List Things on Paper Smart people have a well-developed life strategy that includes a written life vision/mission, purpose, and goals statement. They also write lists---one for "have to's" and one for "want to's."

14. Are Productive Smart people get things done, through whatever organizational/time management system that works for them. They make the most of each day and take action on important life tasks each and everyday.

15. Use Discernment Smart people are able to discern (see clearly) other's reasons and motives, so they selectively choose who and what to align themselves with. They surround themselves with only the highest quality people, programs, and places.

16. Read, Read, Read Smart people tap into the collective brain power of others by reading books, magazines, articles---anything that is helpful for their own development. They are also able to filter out the information that fits for them and let the rest go.

17. Value Learning Smart people value the process of learning for learning's sake. They do not just learn for a specific end---to get a certificate, degree, title, etc. They learn because it is intrinsically rewarding for them.

18. Teach Others Smart people are the teachers of the world, who share their knowledge with other people. They put themselves out there so the rest of us can benefit, and in exchange, their own learning grows and develops because they are actively talking about, researching, and understanding their subject.

19. Reinvent Themselves Smart people do not like to stay the same, they love to grow and develop. They often play with their image, brand, company name, and expand or change it entirely. To stay ahead of the game, they often reinvent themselves time and time again.

20. Are Students of Life Smart people not only know about specific subjects and topics, but also about what it means to be a human being at this time in our evolution. They are insatiably curious and want to know more about becoming bigger and brighter, as a result they naturally evolve.

As Lao Tzu said, "To gain knowledge, add things everyday. To gain wisdom, remove things everyday." This is so true, our brain is like a computer and in order for it to function at a higher level, we must always be adding, while simultaneously taking away information that no longer serves us. Think about it, what do you want to remove from your database? And, what new software program will you replace it with?

Emotional Quotient

Emotional Quotient

What is EQ? Emotional Quotient or our emotional intelligence is basically how we use our emotions given a situation. It is the “intentional” use of your emotions so that they work for you anywhere, anyplace. The important factor is motivation to learn, and then practice it. There are “four buildings blocks” that give rise to your emotional intelligence.

The ability to accurately perceive, appraise and express emotion.
The ability to access or generate feelings on demand when they can facilitate understanding of yourself or another person.
The ability to understand emotions and the knowledge that’s derived from them
The ability to regulate emotions to promote emotional and intellectual growth.

The first rule to becoming emotionally intelligent is to develop “self-awareness.” What this means is to be conscious of “how you feel” You learn to monitor your feelings and how they affect you.
This is where self-talk comes in. you are expected to talk things through in your mind; what you feel and what you will say and how you will say it. When you say something you are expected to look at your actions and see how these affect the other person and how every person responds to what you say. This is a nightmare, you will tell me. And I will say “Yes, it is!” But it will teach you that the means to the desired end, not just the end itself, is important.
If you are really keen to develop your EQ, you must be highly motivated. Why? Because there are hundred reasons of reasons every day that will upset or irritate you and make you mad.
You have to be constantly positive in your outlook and thinking. Not only must people around see the difference you are trying to make in yourself, you also have to attend to your daily chores as well as manage your people. And all this is not easy.
The next step is to be a good communicator. Effective communication, whether it is body language, face-to-face contact, letters or e-mail are vital for EI. You must know how to express your feelings, thoughts and even your wants. You must be able to stand up for what you believe.
Be assertive and at the same time learn to respect other people’s opinions and beliefs. Good communication also means learning to listen to what others are saying. A good leader listen to what others are saying. A good leader with an effective EQ knows how to listen to his team members.
If you have to be critical, you must know how and when to criticize. Learning to be sensitive to others is also an important criterion for a leader with good EI. “How would I feel if someone said that to me and how would I respond?”
No one person can develop and practice EI without including others. A workplace is an integrated system. No one works alone. That is the reason why everybody is encouraged to learn EI.
Upon learning, you can help others manage their emotions, you learn to communicate effectively with people at work and with outsiders, and you’re able to your subordinates and colleagues solve problems as well as resolve their conflicts. Above all, people tend to be motivated because the work environment becomes more condusive.        Be nice to people when you go up the corporate ladder because  when you come down, they will still be there.

ANatomy is better now.... I suck at it only!!!!!

Dear Bloggy,

Is Saturday!!! And, i'm at home!!! After few days in hostel, i felt very homesick!!! I miss my mama and papa. And i hate washing my own clothes without washing machine. And i hate the vending washing machine in my hostel because the water is so yellow. It dirty my clothes more. And i hate thinking what should i eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  And i hate living myself without my computer and internet access. But, i love to stay in hostel with my roomates. I love the studies in physiotherapy. Though at first, anatomy and me have nothing in common, but now, when i get to know it, i feel better. In fact, i kinda like remember the words. Such as Greater tubercle, Lesser Turbecle, Medial Epicondyle and many more. Kekeke, i may hate it later when there are more to remember. I love the fact to know that i know how to take care of myself alone. I love the fact that i'm a very flexible person. I love the fact that i can adapt myself to anywhere. So now, i'm balancing myself. Now trying to figure out, do i ahte or love it more???? For those who are away from home.... I salute you all!!!!! You got my respect!!!!!

Anyway, now i have to do my English Assignment.... My goodness, i'm not saying anything but i'm repeating Form 3 English!!!!!! I just don't know why i can fall asleep in English class and Physic too cause i'm repeating form 5 Physic. Howlah??? where i can get the books??? Must try to search back all my physic notes!!!! And need to get some good anatomy and physiology books. Luckily, i have Maggie and ANu.... At least, they know what is happening around.... And maggie!!!! I just can;t wait for your Dexter!!! Hope you will be back soon!!!

However, i felt a little pressure with my room mates because they study very hard. so now, should i study too??? Should i memorize the muscle now??? I think i better go and sleep now cause i keep yawning non stop....

Dear bloggy,
I just did a test in Tickle. WHAT IS MY CINDERELLA STORY???? i always like Cinderella. She is so not lucky!!!! Need to go through so much to get the prince's notice. Poor girl.... Anyway, this is the prediction. Which is true about me....

Kiss the Prince

You don't need the pouffy dress, the fancy hair, or the 3-inch glass heels. A romantic soul like you just wants a guy who's a true companion, a good friend, a real prince. And if he's hot? All the better. But ultimately, you know that home is where the heart is. Which is probably why you surround yourself with good friends you can take care of and laugh with — friends who will do the same for you.

But that doesn't keep you from fantasizing about the perfect relationship. It's not that you don't have your feet firmly planted on the ground. It's just that you're not afraid to shoot high. Or wish upon a shooting star. So keep reaching for your goals, Cinderella. If you do, your happily ever after can't be far away. And you can seal that with a kiss.

Kekeke... anyway, waiting for the time to pass cause got to attend my first class today. Of course, i'm still on Medical leave. The doctor gave me extra days but i still want to attend my class, everyone starts except me already. i need to be more kiasu .... or else, i'll leave out... Anyway, my class is so weird... 10.30-4 is at HKL and then 6-8 is at UPM. I think i better skip some of my anatomy class so i can go for my sign languaga class which only left 6 classes. I'm sure i can talk soemthing to the dean. Maybe i should...

Aiyo, my signs are getting weaker everyday... because i seldom meet Kim and her friends. Must try to work something out so i can meet them every week and my test.,.. haven;t decide who can be my deaf guest!!! RUISHAN!!! You got to make it or else, i must find other people... this is so sad!!! Who i can find to be my deaf guest???? My circle of deaf friends is so small!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!! DEAF PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!! Please help me!!!! Kekekekeke

Anyway, pity Anne Laura, she got to helps me prepare the letter.... must thanks her later..... anyway, will go Y later and tomorrow, i'll go bakc to hostel, *sob* later, sure no internet again... dunno when have chance to write again. Must try to arrange my schedule as fast as possible!!!!!

Ok... stop blogging here... tata!`!!!!
